L’angelo di Sarajevo

Snipers are everywhere, hidden from sight. Grenades reduce entire neighborhoods to rubble. Some die for something as simple as climbing a cherry tree. Marco De Luca, the protagonist of Non chiedere perché, carries the open wound of a failed marriage and is the only journalist among his colleagues to accept an assignment as a war correspondent. Condensing the reality of the Balkans into a few seconds for the evening news proves nearly impossible; all he can do is bear witness to the brutality. A pivotal moment unfolds when an orphanage is bombed. Marco rushes to the scene to file his report, but what unsettles him is a detail he cannot ignore: all the children are blond — except one little girl with dark hair. It is this single child who compels him to pursue what others dismiss as an unreasonable dream.
